THOMAS EDWARD MCCANN – Obituary
Thomas Edward McCann of Aura passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2020. Age 82. Father of Nancy McCann Foy (Michael) of Aura, Anita McCann of Aura, Thomas McCann (Susan) of Franklinville, David McCann (Brenda) of Franklinville, and John McCann. Grandfather of 17, and great-grandfather of 8. Brother of Peggy Novack of Aura, Louis McCann (Roberta) of Aura, and the late John McCann and Edward McCann. Brother-in-law of Sally McCann of Aura, Nancy McCann of Aura, and the late Walter Novack. Nephew of Elizabeth Riday of Gibbstown. Uncle to numerous special nieces and nephews. Son of the late Edward J. & Margaret V. (nee McGlincy) McCann.
Born in Bridgeport and raised for a time in Swedesboro, Thomas has been a resident of Aura for the past 70 years. He was an equipment operator for the Gloucester County Highway Department for many years and also a lifelong farmer and owner of the McCann’s Farm in Elk Township. Thomas proudly served in the NJ Army National Guard and was a member of the FFA, 4-H, SJ Gas Engine Club, and Sweetwater Gun Club. He was also a lifetime member of the Clayton Elks Lodge #2132 where he was very active in fundraising with their Special Needs Committee.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Thursday, March 19, 2020, from 7:00 PM to 8:45 PM and again on Friday, March 20, 2020, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312. Elks Service on Thursday at 8:45 PM and Funeral Service on Friday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment Manahath Cemetery, Glassboro.
