Stephen J. “Jack” Kessel, Jr., age 82, a lifelong resident of Franklinville, NJ, passed away on May 2, 2022, with his loving family by his side. Jack was born in Clayton, NJ, and lived in Franklinville until his passing. Mr. Kessel honorably served his country in the United States Navy. He owned and operated Kessel’s VW Auto Repair in Clayton for 20 years. He also worked for NJ Transit as a bus operator. He was a founding member of the South Jersey VW Club. Jack held an Extra Class License as an amateur radio operator. In his spare time, he was an accomplished drag racer, enjoyed camping with his family, and spectating all forms of auto racing. Jack was predeceased by his parents Stephen J. Kessel, Sr., and Hanna Kessel (nee Oliver). Beloved husband of 60 years to JoAnn Kessel (nee Keller). Devoted father of Beth Ann Kessel and Steve Kessel (Kelly). Loving grandfather of Alaska Kessel. Dear brother of the late Phyllis. He is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family. Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation, Saturday, May 21 st , from 12:00 – 2:00 PM, at the Farnelli Funeral Home, 504 N. Main Street, Williamstown, where a celebration of life service will take place at 2:00 PM.
