Gloucester County Sheriff Carmel Morina announced today (4/27) that during the early morning hours of April 17 through April 19th, officers from the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department arrested 82 fugitives, with 146 violations of paying their child support.
The Sheriff’s Department was assisted by Monroe Township, Logan Township, Deptford Township, Glassboro, Washington Township, Pitman, West Deptford Township, Woodbury Heights, Harrison Township, NJ State Parole, Middletown Twp. K-9 Unit and the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office in the sweep.
On the first day, Tuesday, April 17th, 37 arrests were made in Monroe Township, Franklin Township, Clayton, Glassboro, Washington Township, Sicklerville, Vineland, Woodstown, Elk Township, South Harrison, Woodbury, Newfield, Monroeville and Elmer, collecting $6,755.44 in back child support.
On the second day, Wednesday, April 18th, 26 arrests were made in Pitman, Glassboro, Gibbstown, National Park, Woodbury, Monroeville, Franklinville, Wenonah, Deptford, West Deptford, Williamstown, East Greenwich, Logan Township and Woolwich Township, collecting $6,990 in back child support.
And, on the final day of the sweep, Thursday April 19th, 19 arrests were made in Woolwich Township, Woodbury, Westville, Gloucester City, Logan Township, Somerdale, Pine Hill, Camden, Washington Township, Pitman, Gloucester Township, West Deptford, Gibbstown, Mantua, Wenonah and Deptford Township, collecting over $3,247 in back child support.
In total the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department was responsible for collecting $29,413.44 in back child support.Sheriff Morina stated, “We do several child support sweeps a year in hopes of collecting monies due for children here in Gloucester County. This was a tremendous effort and I would like to thank all the local, county and state agencies that assisted us. Morina said that no major incidents occurred during this operation.
