SANDRA ‘SANDI’ JEAN DAVIS – Obituary
Sandra “Sandi” Jean Davis (nee Wurst), passed away on September 5, 2024, in Voorhees, NJ. She was the cherished wife of the late Kenneth A. Davis, with whom she shared 53 years of marriage. Sandi is survived by her children, Marjorie J. Torrey (Robert) of Woodstown, Kenneth A. Davis, Jr. (Bonita) of Owensboro, KY, and Christopher L. Davis (Lisa) of Franklinville. She was also a devoted grandmother to Robert Torrey, the late Timothy Torrey, Alexander Torrey, Christopher Davis, Liam Davis, and Emily Musgrave, and a loving great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren. Sandi is also survived by her brothers, Samuel “Biff” L. Wurst, III (Mary) of Washington Township, and James H. Wurst (Anne) of Monroeville, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel L. and Marjorie J. (nee Owenes) Wurst, Jr.
Born on February 8, 1942, in Woodbury, NJ, Sandi was raised in Pitman before living in Clayton and briefly Williamstown. For the past 32 years, she made her home in Franklinville, where she embraced the community and created lasting memories. A proud graduate of Pitman High School, Sandi continued her education at Glassboro State College for horticulture. She began her career as a cosmetologist at the age of 17, embarking on a journey that would become a deeply fulfilling part of her life. Over the years, Sandi owned two businesses prior to becoming a cosmetology teacher at Camden County Vocational Technical School in Sicklerville, NJ and at Cumberland County Technical Education Center in Bridgeton, NJ, for 16 years, retiring in 2005.
Sandi was known for her passion for gardening, both flowers and vegetables, and she cherished her vacations with her husband at their vacation home in Virginia. Her commitment to the Franklinville Senior Center for 15 years, where she organized trips and ran bingo events, was a testament to her community-focused spirit. Sandi’s vibrant personality was evident through her lifelong enjoyment of dancing and her active participation in a bowling league during her younger years.
