RUTH ANN BALDWIN – Obituary
RuthAnn Baldwin (nee Shiels)
RuthAnn Shiels spent the first 20 years of her life residing in Philadelphia where she worked in a shoe factory. All of that changed when a weekend visit resulted in her meeting the love of her life, Roy Baldwin, Jr., a marine on weekend leave.
One year later, they were married. They had five children. Their marriage lasted for 70 years until Roy’s death in 2022.
RuthAnn had many different job titles in her lifetime: daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend. She worked at two different sewing factories, one in Franklinville and one in Elmer. She waitressed at several diners in the area. Before she retired in her 70’s, she was the cook at Our Lady of Mercy Academy in Newfield.
RuthAnn could talk to anyone; therefore, she never met a stranger. Everyone was a friend. She also was a mom to kids that were not hers biologically.
Her hobbies were quilting, embroidery, crocheting, eating out, and bowling.
RuthAnn is survived by her children Roy (Tina), Lillian (Bob Kerr), Keith (Pam), William (Christine), 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her mother Lillian Greenawalt, father Matthew Shiels, son John Baldwin, sisters Charlotte Divines and Alice Fisher.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Franklinville VFW Post 2071, 2179 Delsea Drive, Franklinville, NJ 08322 on Friday, February 17, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The family kindly requests no flowers or monetary contributions. Sign the guestbook at BarclayFuneralHome.net.
