RUSSELL ‘BUMPY’ BOWERS, JR.

Russell “Bumpy” Bowers, Jr. on Wednesday, December 7, 2016.  Age 68.  Husband of 26 years to the late Jacqueline (nee Hickman) Bowers.  Father of Susan Rodriguez; Russell D. Bowers; Cathy Stein; James Bowers, Sr.; Tracy Moore; and Dawn Moore.  Grandfather of 13 and Great-grandfather of 12.  Son of the late Russell and Alice (nee Williams) Bowers.  Also survived by his loving dog, “Brutus”.

Born and raised in Camden, Russell was a longtime resident of Pine Hill before moving to Williamstown 34 years ago.  He worked as a mechanic for the Boro of Pine Hill, a maintenance mechanic for Tiffany Green Apartments, and later as a mechanic for Hitcharama before his retirement in 2000.  Russell was very mechanically inclined and also a good carpenter.  His family remembers him as one of the most helpful and generous persons ever but also as a man who was very stubborn and set in his ways and loved life.  His son Jimmy fondly recalls working with his dad on his Vega as a teenager.  Russell enjoyed crabbing and was known for making great crabs and cole slaw. Services are under the direction of the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME and are private at the convenience of the family.
