ROBERT WALTER COOPER – OBITUARY

Robert Walter Cooper on Sunday, December 29, 2019.  Age 91.  Husband of 33 years to the late Jane A. Cooper (nee Krotsch).  Father of Audrey (Kirk) Conaway, Robert Jeffrey (Angele) Cooper, Carol (Cliff) Trovillo, and the late Susan Bowe.  Grandfather of Heather (Brian) Deckelnick, Erin (Carl, Jr.) Blase, Tammy (Dominick, II) Giorgianni, Marsha (Edward) Gaventa, Aimee Cooper, Robert Joseph (Jacqueline) Cooper, and Clifford W. (Shannon) Trovillo, II.  Great-grandfather of Dylan Deckelnick, Bryce Deckelnick, Weston Blase, Evelyn Blase, Dominick (Alicea) Giorgianni, III, Joseph Giorgianni, Christopher Gaventa, Andrew Gaventa, Brielle Cooper, Robert Cooper, Jordan Cooper, Linden Trovillo, and Austin Trovillo.  Great-great-grandfather of Dominick Giorgianni, IV.  Son of the late Walter and Florence (nee Smith) Cooper.

Raised in Washington Township, Robert was a resident of Williamstown, Glassboro and then Millville before moving to Malaga in 1980.  He was a 1946 graduate of Glassboro High School and worked for a time as a chicken farmer and crop farmer.  Robert later worked for South Jersey Gas Company beginning as an Appliance Serviceman, then the Appliance Service Department Supervisor, and later in 1976 the Division Manager until his retirement.

Robert’s first passion was flying which he started doing while in high school.  He was a member and helped found the EAA Chapter 216 out of Cross Keys Airport. He was a longtime member of the WBCCI Airstream Club and served as president for a couple of terms alongside his wife who was the first lady.  Robert was active with the Boys Scouts of America as a troop leader and earned the rank of Eagle Scout.  He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Glassboro and the Malaga United Methodist Church.  Through his wife Jane, Robert was also active with the Saint Thomas’ Episcopal Church in Glassboro for many years.  He was a longtime member of the Glassboro High School Class of 1946 Reunion Committee.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Saturday, January 4, 2020, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312.  Funeral service at 12:00 PM at the funeral home.  Interment Saint Thomas’ Episcopal Cemetery, Glassboro.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Saint Thomas’ Episcopal Church, 212 N.
