ROBERT ARTHUR GOMPERT, JR. – Obituary

Robert Arthur Gompert, Jr., of Franklinville NJ passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at the age of 68, surrounded by his loving family.

Robert was the beloved husband of Angela (nee Zieger) Gompert. He is also survived by his cherished children: Sabrina (nee Gompert) VanMeter (Gary) of Clayton, NJ, and Robert A. Gompert, III (Jen) of Swedesboro, NJ. His grandchildren, who brought him immense joy, include Jamison McGinbney (Shelby), Alaina Gompert, Robert A. Gompert IV, Madeleine Gompert, and Lillian Gompert.

He is further survived by his nephew, Dave Havelow (Tamaka), his great-niece, Kayla, his great-nephew, John, and many other nieces and nephews. Robert leaves behind his brother, Donald Rupert of Nesco and Heidi Keeny, the mother of his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Jeanette (nee Rupert) Gompert, Sr., as well as his three siblings: Emily Havelow, Clara Dickson, and John Gompert.

Born on January 15, 1956, in Hammonton, NJ, Robert was raised in Nesco, NJ. He later lived in Austin, TX, for three years before making his home in Franklinville in 1985. Robert attended Cumberland County College and went on to earn his CDL at Bradway Trucking. For many years, Robert worked as a dedicated truck driver for Erdner Brothers in Swedesboro, NJ, a profession he truly enjoyed.

Robert had a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed driving tractor-trailers, finding freedom on the open road. Playing pool was another of his favorite pastimes, and he cherished the camaraderie it brought. Robert adored the great outdoors, especially when canoeing on the water. Above all, he loved gathering with family and friends for barbecues and picnics, cherishing the time spent together.

He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His warm heart, love of family, and passion for life will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
