On Saturday, August 25th at approximately 6:45 pm, officers from the Paulsboro Police Department responded to 205 W. Buck Street, Paulsboro, Gloucester County regarding reports that a subject had been shot.  Upon arrival, responding officers discovered 21-year-old Davontae Randall who had sustained apparent gunshot wounds.

Medical personnel transported the victim to a local area hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Eyewitness statements indicated that the suspect fled on foot.  The Gloucester County S.W.A.T. Team, the Gloucester County Emergency Response Team, and neighboring jurisdictions responded to provide mutual aid; however, the suspect remains at large.

An autopsy conducted on Sunday, August 26th, by Gloucester County Medical Examiner Dr. Gerald Feigin, ruled the cause of death as multiple gunshot wounds and the manner of death a homicide. Circumstances surrounding the homicide are currently under investigation by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office and the Paulsboro Police Department.  Detectives determined that the victim was in a physical altercation with the suspect who was known to the victim.

“We do not believe it was a random act.  We do not believe there is any imminent danger to the community.  We are aggressively investigating this homicide and we are doing everything possible to bring justice to the individual who carried out this act of senseless violence,” stated Gloucester County Prosecutor Charles A. Fiore.

Investigators believe there are additional witnesses who may provide crucial information in this investigation.  The Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office encourages any witnesses with information regarding this homicide to contact Det.
