Patricia “Pat” Ann Murphy (nee Johnson), age 85, of Monroeville, New Jersey, passed away on August 23, 2024, with her three daughters at her bedside. Pat was the beloved wife of the late William R. Murphy, Sr., with whom she shared 58 years of marriage. She was the cherished mother of the late William Murphy, Jr. (late Mary), Mary Ann Urbanek (Eric), Lisa Marie Murphy, Linda Marie D’Alfonso (Michael), and her late infant daughter, Karen Marie Murphy. Patricia was a devoted grandmother to Eric Urbanek, Josh Urbanek, William Murphy, III, Samuel Murphy, Michael D’Alfonso, and the late Jason Levering. She was a loving great-grandmother to Landon Urbanek, Taylor Mae Urbanek, Nora Murphy, and Evan Urbanek. Patricia was the daughter of the late John and Helen (nee McDonough) Johnson.
Pat was born on June 16, 1939, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and was a proud graduate of Mercy Tech High School. Her life journey included residences in Philadelphia, Clayton (where she lived for 10 years), Upper Darby, and Monroeville, where she made her home for 56 years. For over 15 years, she worked at Pat Jo Blouse Co., retiring in June 1998.
Beyond her professional life, Pat had a zest for life and a variety of interests that brought her much happiness. She was an avid bowler and could often be found perfecting her strikes and spares at the Glass Bowl, where she was a fixture among the lanes. Snowmobiling was another of Pat’s favorite pastimes, embracing the thrill and the chill of the winter months with gusto. Pat’s love for baking was renowned among her family and friends, with her delicious treats being the highlight of many gatherings. She was also skilled in the art of crocheting, creating beautiful and intricate pieces that were not only works of art but also expressions of her love.
