The Margaret E. Heggan Free Public Library in Sewell, seeks a part-time Library Shelver for twenty hours per week. The schedule may include hours during weekday mornings, afternoons, and evenings. Working regularly scheduled weekend hours on a permanent basis will be required. This position reports to the Circulation Supervisor. Pay is $9.00 per hour. Responsibilities include providing excellent customer service at all times; shelving library materials in their proper location using the Dewey Decimal system and alphabetical order; tidying library tables and seating areas; straightening shelved materials and reading shelves; shifting adjustable shelving and shelved materials as needed; searching for missing library materials and retrieving library materials; performing other duties as assigned at direction of supervisor; and tactfully and politely ensuring that library patrons are adhering to Library Code of Conduct as needed. Requires a high school diploma; ability to communicate well; skills at paying attention to details; competency in following directions; and capable of working independently. Flexibility with schedule and ability to work additional hours during staff absences preferred. Prior experience working in a library and using the Dewey Decimal Classification System preferred.
