McArthur Payne – Obituary

McArthur Payne, age 82, on December 29, 2024, in Atlantic City, NJ. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, McArthur’s life was one of service, love, and dedication to his family, his faith, and his community.

Born on October 31, 1942, in Joe, North Carolina, McArthur was the beloved son of the late Jessie and Elizabeth (née Wilburn) Payne. He was raised in Runnemede, NJ, where he developed a strong work ethic and a deep commitment to his family and community. He spent the last 20 years as a resident of Turnersville, NJ, where he was known for his kindness, wisdom, and steadfast presence.

McArthur’s professional life was marked by his talents as a contractor and self-employed finish carpenter. His meticulous craftsmanship earned him the respect and admiration of many in the community. Beyond his work in construction, McArthur was a devoted pastor and preacher, dedicating much of his life to serving others through his deep faith in God.

A man of many interests, McArthur was passionate about the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing, where he found peace and joy. He also enjoyed playing the guitar, a skill he nurtured over the years.

He leaves behind his loving wife of many years, Caroll Jo Payne, whose companionship and support were central to his life. He is also survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom he cherished deeply. His legacy of love, faith, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
