MARY W. KENNEDY – Obituary

Mary W. Kennedy passed away on October 14, 2018, one /half hour before her 96th birthday.  She was predeceased by her husband Harry Kennedy Sr. and her son Michael.   Mary was a long time teacher in the Clayton Public Schools.  She taught 1st grade and later was the reading specialist and head of the Child Study Team .  She was a life-time member of the N.J.E.A.  Mary was fondly remembered to this day by the hundreds of students she taught and loved in the Clayton Public Schools.
Mary was the mother of six children.  Harry (Gail), Paul (Ellen Clark), Robert (Carroll-Jo), Frank (Nancy), Mary Gen Hiltebrand (Dave)  and Michael.  Mary was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School and was a member of the first class at the University of Pennsylvania to admit women.  Despite her six children she also garnered two additional Master’s Degrees in Reading and Learning Disabilities from Glassboro State College.
She is survived by her sister Anne Herbst, 5 of her children, 8 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren and numerous loved nieces and nephews.  Mary, many years ago, bequeathed her remains for medical studies at Jefferson Medical College.  There will be a memorial service on October 28, 2018 at Cecil Creek Farm in Mickleton, NJ from 1:30-6:00 pm.
