Mary Emma (nee Tait) Moore, 75, of Pittsgrove, NJ, on Saturday, July 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 11, 1950, in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Emma (nee Albertson) Tait. Mary was raised in Philadelphia and carried the values of hard work, devotion, and family with her throughout her life.
Mary attended Bartram High School in Philadelphia and later made her home in Clayton, NJ, from 1974 to 1988 before settling in Pittsgrove, where she lived for 38 years. She was known for her steady presence, warm heart, and the deep care she showed to everyone around her. Mary worked as a bus aide for both the Clayton School District and the Glassboro School District, where she was appreciated for her kindness and reliability. After retiring, she embraced one of the roles she cherished most, which was caring for her grandchildren full time.
Family was the center of Mary’s world, and she took great pride in the life she built with her husband, William Edward Moore, to whom she was married for 52 years. Together they shared a lifetime of love, partnership, and devotion in Pittsgrove. She is survived by her four children, Raymond Moore and his wife Crystal, Stacey Metzger and her husband Bruce, Christa Moore and her wife Beth, and Billie-Jo Bowers and her husband William. Mary was a beloved grandmother to Jake Moore, Julia Moore, Jordan Lawrence, Alyssa Gallagher, Lauren Metzger, Evan Metzger, Abigail Moore, Jackson Moore, Connor Bowers, Ryan Bowers, and Will Bowers, each of whom brought her tremendous joy and pride. Mary was the caring sister to Doris “Dolly” Jacques and the late John Tait, Jr., George Tait, Rene Stein, and Charlie Tait.
Mary loved being surrounded by her family and was happiest when everyone was together. She never missed a birthday and always made sure the people she loved felt remembered and celebrated. Christmas Eve was her favorite holiday, and family gatherings during the season held a special place in her heart. She took great joy in decorating her home for the holidays, especially her windowsill Christmas village, which reflected the warmth and spirit she brought into every season. Her grandchildren especially treasured sleep-overs at her house, where they stayed up late playing board games, enjoying unlimited snacks and soda, and waking up to her famous Mickey Mouse pancakes.
She enjoyed many simple pleasures in life, including the Mummers, bowling, reading, cross-stitch, shopping, and family game nights. She loved playing games on her iPad and cards with those she loved, and she found great happiness in vacations, especially cruises and trips to Disney. Mary was also a devoted sports fan who loved watching the Phillies and the Kansas City Chiefs. She was happiest when supporting her grandchildren, and she made every effort to attend their games, tournaments, belt tests, and band competitions. Her love and encouragement were constants in their lives.
Mary will be remembered for her generous spirit, her devotion to her family, and the joy she found in life’s everyday moments. She had a wonderful way of making others feel cared for, and her home was a place of comfort, laughter, and love. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
