Marina Altagracia Alfonseca, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at the age of 68. She is survived by her daughters, Diosselina Martinez and Elica Martinez; her son, Josue Esquilin; her granddaughter, Suleidy Martinez; and her mother, Luz Rojas. Marina’s passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.
Born and raised in Santiago, Dominican Republic, Marina moved to New York City for a time before settling in Clayton, New Jersey, where she lived for the past 16 years. Throughout her life, Marina was known for her compassionate and giving nature. She worked as a dedicated Home Health Aide, providing care and comfort to those in need with a kindness that touched many lives.
Marina’s generosity extended beyond her professional life. She was deeply committed to helping children, especially those in her home country of the Dominican Republic. Marina would often fill several suitcases with toys and travel to Santiago, where she would donate the items to children in need, spreading joy and hope to those less fortunate. This selfless act was just one example of her unwavering commitment to making the world a better place.
In addition to her charitable work, Marina cherished spending time with her family and friends. She had a warm, welcoming personality and was always ready to lend a helping hand or offer words of encouragement. Her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched with her love, kindness, and dedication to others.
Marina will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. The family extends heartfelt thanks to all who have supported them during this time of loss.
