MARGARET MARY ‘PEGGY’ NOVACK – Obituary
Margaret Mary “Peggy” Novack (nee McCann) of Aura on Monday, December 18, 2023. Age 86. Wife of the late Walter Novack. Mother of Shawn Novack (Kelly) of Stow Creek. Grandmother of Cody Novack and Caitlin Novack. Daughter of the late Edward Joseph & Margaret Mary (nee McGlincy) McCann. Sister of Louis McCann (Roberta) of Aura and the late Tom McCann, John McCann (late Nancy), and Eddie McCann (Sally of Elk Township). Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Peggy sadly leaves behind her precious Toy Poodle / Chihuahua, “Bella”.
Born in Logan Township, Peggy has been a resident of Aura since 1950. She graduated from Glassboro High School in 1955 and worked in the deli at the Pole Tavern Wawa for many years. Peggy worked for Verchio Brothers in Glassboro for several years before becoming a school bus aide for handicapped children for the Clayton Board of Education and later CJ’s Bus Service for a total of 15 years. She was quite proud of her work helping the children.
Peggy has been a member of the Clayton Elks Lodge #2132 since 1986. She held numerous offices throughout the years and also served as president of the Ladies Auxiliary. Peggy was devoted to her Catholic faith and loved going to mass. She had been a longtime member of Saint Catherine of Siena RC Church in Clayton and later the Church of the Nativity in Franklinville. Recently, she has attended Saint Bridget Church in Glassboro. The true farm girl in her was evident in her love of canning foods from the farm. She also loved baking and was skilled at catering parties. Peggy loved watching Wheel of Fortune, rarely missing an episode, and made many ceramics in her younger years.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 7:45 PM and again on Thursday, December 28, 2023, from 9:15 AM to 10:15 AM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312. An Elk’s Service will be held Wednesday night at 7:45 at the funeral home and a funeral mass on Thursday at 11:00 AM at Saint Bridget Church, 125 Church Street, Glassboro, NJ 08028.
