MANTUA MAN CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED ASSAULT WITH HANDGUN

On Sunday, March 20th at approximately 8:24 a.m., officers from the Mantua Township
Police Department were dispatched to a residence on Pinebrook Drive, Mantua, New Jersey for a report
of gunfire. A victim present at the scene reported that the suspect, identified as Alexus L. Kendall-Logan,
23, of Mantua, had fired one round from a semiautomatic handgun at the victim during a physical
altercation inside the residence. The victim, who was not hit, had wrestled the handgun away from the
suspect and forced the suspect out of the residence. While outside, the suspect attempted to reenter the
residence, damaging the front door and window in the process.
As a result of immediate follow-up investigation, Detectives from the Gloucester County
Prosecutor’s Office and the Mantua Township Police Department executed search warrants on two
residences and a motor vehicle, leading to the recovery of two (2) handguns.
Alexus Kendall-Logan was charged with the following criminal offenses as a result of the
investigation:
Aggravated Assault With a Handgun
Criminal Attempt Burglary
Unlawful Possession of a Weapon
Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose
Possession of Hollow-Nose Ammunition
Possession of a Defaced Firearm
Kendall-Logan was lodged in the Salem County Correctional Facility pending a detention hearing. Despite these charges, every defendant is presumed innocent, unless and until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, following a trial at which the defendant has all of their rights as guaranteed by the US Constitution and State Law.
