Luther Francis Schwenk, 93. Went home to his Lord and Savior peacefully at ManorCare Rehab, Sewell, NJ on November 21, 2021. Lived 64 years in Clayton, NJ. Formerly from Pottsville, PA. Preceding him to heaven were his loving wife of 72 years, Anna Rachael (Lawrence) Schwenk; Parents, Robert P. Schwenk, Sr. and Sallie R. (Heinbach) Schwenk; Siblings, Rachel Boger, Robert Jr., Leroy, and John Schwenk; Daughter, Mary Senor; Sister-in-law and husband, Mildred and Austin Robbins. Surviving are his Daughters, Sallie Knapp and Patricia Adams (Mike) Florida; Twin sons, Leon and John Schwenk (Joyce) Illinois; Son-in-law, Jim Senor (Linda) New Jersey; Sister-in-law, Barbara Robbins New Jersey; 10 Grandchildren, 24 Great-grandchildren and 1 Great-Great grandchild.
He graduated from Auburn, PA High School, Ford Business School, Pottsville, PA. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1946-1950. He worked for Reading Anthracite Coal, Clayton Motor Co/Peoples Pontiac, Peoples Bank of South Jersey, and Gloucester County Treasurer’s Dept/Dept of Aging. He was a long time member of The First Baptist Church of Clayton, NJ where he served as Treasurer/Deacon/Trustee/Christian Service Brigade Leader. He was a long time resident of Clayton,NJ where he was a founding member of Clayton Little League, served on Clayton School Board and served as member of Community Dispute Resolution Center.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312. Private burial will be at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven, PA. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at 7:00 PM at Clayton Baptist Church, 110 S. Delsea Drive, Clayton, NJ 08312 with fellowship to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Clayton Baptist Church.
