Leo Francis Zieger – Obituary

Leo Francis Zieger of Vineland on Wednesday, July 7, 2021. Age 78. Husband of 59 years to Catherine Marie Zieger (nee Mitchell). Brother of Rebecca, Alice, Jacqueline (George), Kathy (Ray), Angel (Robert), Daniel Jr. (Mary), James (Patty), and the late Claire, Frances, Raymond, Patrick, and Frank. Step-brother of Barbara, Beverly, Geraldine, and Charlie. Son of the late Daniel R. & Clara Jane (nee Gwalthney) Zieger.

Born in Philadelphia and raised in Franklinville, Leo has been a resident of Vineland since 1962 with the last 19 years at the Luther Acres Apartment Complex. He proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam War where he received two Purple Hearts for injuries received during combat. Leo worked as a tow motor operator at Grays Ferry Brickyard in Franklinville for 36 years and later for Library Bureau Steel in Vineland for a number of years until his retirement.

Leo was very much a family man and homebody, but he loved boating, fishing, and going to the casinos. He also enjoyed playing games on his computer and watching TV. He was nicknamed “Sunshine” by the residents of Luther Acres.
