LAWRENCE STANLEY BECKHOUSE
Lawrence Stanley Beckhouse, 74, a long-time resident of Williamsburg, died, Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth Rockwood Beckhouse. Born in Woodbury, NJ, November 23, 1942, he was the son of the late Margaret Kircher and Stanley George Beckhouse.
Lawrence received a Bachelor’s Degree from Knox College and his Masters and Doctorate from Vanderbilt University.
He was a Professor of Sociology at The College of William and Mary for 37 years. He enjoyed traveling to the Outer Banks of North Carolina and The Gulf Coast of Florida, spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed attending Phillies Baseball and William and Mary Football.
He is survived by two sons, David Lawrence Beckhouse and wife, Rachel Dunn of Denver, CO, and Christopher Stanley Beckhouse and wife, Dana of Appomattox, VA; one sister, Linda B. Otterness and husband, Jack of Monterey, CA; three grandchildren, Lillian Beckhouse, Ava Beckhouse and Chase Beckhouse; as well as several nieces and nephews.
