Born in Woodbury and raised in Franklinville, Joseph has been a resident of Clayton for the past 61 years. Joseph worked as an electrician all of his life beginning at New York Ship in Camden and later for the Philadelphia Naval Yard. When the civilian jobs at the navy yard ended, he worked for Del Monte in Swedesboro for 25 years until their closure and then for Godwin Pumps, also in Swedesboro, until his retirement in 2004.

Joseph enjoyed working on computers and often helped others with their computer problems. He liked to work outside, especially in his garden, and loved to travel. Joseph and Jean took their trailer from Maine to Florida and out west to places like Yellowstone in Wyoming.
