Joseph Christopher Skowronski, Jr., of Clayton, NJ, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, November 21, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Charlotte Susan (nee Garon) Skowronski, with whom he shared 46 years of marriage. He is survived by his children, Joseph C. Skowronski, III (Jeanie) of Tifton, GA, Cheryl Rogers (Bion) of Mount Royal, NJ, and Angelique M. Masucci (Kevin) of Holland, PA. Joseph also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Amanda Orengo, Jessica Rogers, Matthew Masucci, and Michael Masucci. He was the dear brother of Patricia Nelson and the son of the late Joseph Christopher and Angela M. (nee DeSpirito) Skowronski, Sr.
Joseph was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, and has been a resident of Clayton, NJ, for the past 52 years. He attended Bishop Neumann High School in Philadelphia before earning an A.S. in Business Administration from Gloucester County College in May 1998.
For nearly two decades, Joseph worked as a Night Audit Manager at the Marriott Hotel in Philadelphia, PA. His dedication to his job and his strong work ethic were evident throughout his career. In addition to his professional life, Joseph was a devoted volunteer at the food bank of the First Baptist Church in Clayton, NJ. He was also an active member of the Clayton and Glassboro Senior Centers for several years.
Joseph was an avid gardener and earned his Master Gardener Certificate. He took great pride in his vegetable garden and enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends. He was also a passionate theatergoer, attending performances throughout the area, including those in Atlantic City, Delaware, Philadelphia, New York City, and small local theaters in South Jersey. His favorite play was Singin’ in the Rain, performed by the Haddonfield Plays & Players. Joseph loved spending time at the beach, especially in Wildwood and Ocean City, NJ. He was a fan of video games and had a soft spot for animals, particularly dogs. He also enjoyed visiting places like the Adventure Aquarium in Camden and the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family under the direction of the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Joseph to the Gloucester County Animal Shelter, 1200 N. Delsea Drive, Clayton, NJ 08312.
