JOHN (JACK) ANDREW CHALMERS, SR. – Obituary

John (Jack) Andrew Chalmers, Sr. of Clayton, NJ, died on May 2nd, 2022 (his 78th birthday), in Camden, NJ. He died unexpectedly, but peacefully, due to natural causes.

John (Jack) was born May 2, 1944, in Philadelphia, PA. He enlisted in the United States Army during the Vietnam era and served his country for 6 years. The Army was where he received his mechanical ability. He was employed as a mechanic with Modern Forklift for many years.

John (Jack) was in the first “Kids Gloves” televised boxing matches in Philadelphia. He loved all types of fishing. He also loved to tell his fish stories. He belonged to the ARDC Dirt Racing Club and raced Midget Sprint Cars in his heyday. In his younger years, he also loved flying as he was an avid pilot and could often be found at the Cross Keys Airport. John (Jack) was also a good cook. We will surely miss his hot dog soup (it doesn’t sound great but it was) and stuffed peppers. John (Jack) loved life and his children and being a single father of four.

John (Jack) is survived by his children: Jean Scipione (Garrett Carr) of Phoenixville, PA, John Chalmers, Jr. (Helen Tambourino) of Ash, NC, Christine Baldwin (William) of Newfield, NJ and Andrew Chalmers (Stephanie) of Vineland, NJ; his grandsons, Dakota Chalmers of Franklinville, NJ and William Baldwin, Jr. of Newfield. John (Jack) is also survived by his very loving caregiver, Maggie, and all his friends at Clayton Mews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date and time to be announced shortly.
