John Charles Beebe, 86, of Glassboro, NJ, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, November 28, 2024. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy Joan (nee Beach) Beebe, with whom he shared nearly 61 years of marriage. John is survived by their three children: John (Cindy) Beebe, Jr. of Sicklerville, Michael (Nancy Nichols) Beebe of Glassboro, and Anne (Thomas) Cowley of Glassboro. He was also a loving grandfather to seven grandchildren: Melody Beebe, Jacob Beebe, Bridget Beebe, Tara Bendig, Courtney Beebe, Faith Cowley, and Brandon Cowley, and two great-grandchildren, Amelia Marie Kelly and Valerie Lue Kelly. John was predeceased by his parents, Howard Rube and Madeline Harriet (nee Uhl) Beebe, as well as his brother, Walter “Fred” Frederick Beebe, and is survived by his brother, Rex Beebe (the late Ruth) of Millville.
Born and raised in Clayton, NJ, John was a proud 1958 graduate of Clayton High School. He resided in Glassboro for over 60 years, where he raised his family and became an integral part of the community. In his youth, John honorably served three years in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, earning the rank of Specialist.
John had a diverse and rewarding career. He started working at the Philadelphia Navy Shipyard right out of high school and later worked as an electrician for Huntsman Polyurethanes in West Deptford for 33 years. John also worked as a parts delivery driver for Tags Auto Supply in Glassboro for over 25 years, where he formed many lasting friendships.
John was a member of the Saint Anthony Beneficial Society in Glassboro and the Nostalgia Knights Classic Car Club in Vineland. He was known for his involvement in local sports, coaching Glassboro Little League in the late 1970s and early 1980s. A lifelong fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers, John was rarely seen without his trademark blue Dodgers baseball cap, and his love for the team was only matched by his affection for his family. He also enjoyed music, collecting records, and watching horse racing. Above all, John cherished his time with his wife, Dorothy.
John was known for his good-natured humor and playful ribbing. Whether you had known him for five minutes or many years, if he liked you, you could expect some lighthearted teasing, always delivered with warmth and affection.
