JOHN A. SARAO, JR. – Obituary
John A. Sarao, Jr. of Franklinville on Wednesday, May 24, 2023. Age 50. Son of Kathy Costa of Franklinville. Father of Morgan Sarao and her partner Matt of Denver, CO and Philip Murphy and his wife Jess of Glenolden, PA. Brother of Joelle Murmylo and her husband Mike of Bucks County, PA. Uncle to Jen, Matt, Karissa, Mallorie, Emily, Daniel, James, Elizabeth, and Rya. Nephew of Tony and Gale Costa, Joey and Cecilia Costa, Rocky and Susan Costa, Walt Costa, and Kathy and Dave Gulig. Cousin of Tony, Lisa, Michael, Angelo, Joell, and Stephanie.
Born in Vineland and raised in Franklinville where he was a 1992 graduate of Delsea Regional High School, John attended the Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic Cape Community College earning his Culinary Arts Certificate in 1994. John worked as a chef for various restaurants and companies for most of his life. For a time he was a Spin Instructor at Four Season Fitness and worked as a storekeeper for the New Jersey Turnpike Authority since 2017.
John was an extremely talented and creative chef and baker throughout his life. He kept the people he loved fed until the end. A huge part of John’s life was being in the AA community. He provided love and support to many. The friendships he made through AA and the support he received from his AA brothers carried him through the end of his life. John was a jack of all trades and had many hobbies including freshwater and saltwater fishing, fitness, woodworking, landscaping, and gardening.
Relatives and friends are invited to John’s viewing on Thursday, June 1, 2023. from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Calvary Chapel Gloucester County, 5360 Route 42, Turnersville, NJ 08012 with a funeral service beginning at 7:00 PM. Final disposition will be private at the convenience of the family. Services under the direction of the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME in Clayton.
