JOANN JONES – Obituary

JoAnn Jones (nee Fisher) of Williamstown passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 13, 2019, surrounded by all of those who she loved. Loving daughter of the late Howard S. Fisher and Alice M. Fisher (nee Smith). She leaves behind her beloved husband, Benjamin, her children, Alex (Carol) of Mullica Hill, Sandy (James) of Williamstown, Stacy (John) of Franklinville and her sister Carol of Washington Twp. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Aleisha, Ashley, McCabe, Johnny (Kate), Dalton, Nick (Maria), Jake, Cameron, Dominique, and Lucas. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. JoAnn is preceded in death by her brothers Howard and Bobby, her son Michael, her Aunt Georgie and her Grandson Michael.

In her youth, JoAnn was captain of her cheerleading team at Clayton High School. JoAnn was known for her hard work ethic. Whether she was working as a hairdresser at her very own salon, hostessing at the Millville Motor Inn or working side-by-side with daughter Stacy and son-in-law John at Twin Kiss in Clayton, she was always working hard and making people laugh as she did it. As hard of a worker that she was, she always made time to give back to the community. She volunteered for the Clayton Rams football programs, coached cheerleading and always helped to decorate the school floats. As her children grew up, JoAnn was known as the typical “football mom” and after her kids had children of their own, her role changed to the best “football mom-mom”. She never missed a graduation, dance recital or football game. She was her children and grandchildren’s biggest cheerleader. In her free time, JoAnn enjoyed singing, dancing (she was especially good at the Jitterbug), playing Pinochle and bingo, and going to the Casino to play the penny slots. She was also a member of the South Jersey String Band. In the fall, she looked forward to every Sunday, cheering on the Eagles next to her grandchildren. In the summer, she could be seen on her boat in Wildwood, fishing with her loved ones and friends. JoAnn was also a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Vineland.

JoAnn was known for her sense of humor; she could light up any room with her jokes. She was also a selfless person and would make time to help anyone in need. There was not a judgemental bone in her body. She looked for the best in everybody and brought out the best in everyone, leaving a mark on anyone she met. She loved people and they loved her. What meant the most to her was her family, especially her grandchildren, and she will be sadly missed. Donations can be made to the Ronald McDonald House, in JoAnn’s name, on behalf of her late grandson, Michael, 550 Mickle Blvd., Camden, NJ 08103.
