JOAN FRIE
Joan Frie (nee Corson) of Franklin Township on Monday, January 23, 2017. Age 81. Wife of George Franklin Frie, Jr. Mother of George F. (Paula McCurdy) Frie, III and Leslie David (Dana) Frie. Grandmother of Quaid, Luke, Ava, and Jake Frie. Sister of the late Laura Shoemaker, Eleanor Gouge, Harry Corson, Margaret Frye, Sarah Hubschmidt, Rose Frye, and Jean Raively. Step-daughter of the late Trixie Smith-Corson, and daughter of the late Henry and Sarah (nee Moore) Corson.
Born in Jefferson and raised in Aura, Joan has been a resident of Franklinville since 1954. She was a 1952 graduate of Glassboro High School and worked as a secretary for RCA in Camden, Shield Alloy in Newfield, Bancroft School in Mullica Hill, and finally at American Transport in Vineland before retiring in the early 1990s. Joan was a member of the Franklinville UMC and taught Sunday School for 40 years as well as sung in the choir. She volunteered with the Franklin Township Senior Citizens and was always helping people in the community. Joan enjoyed playing the piano and could always be found humming something. She liked to play cards throughout her life, especially with her family, and looked forward to the annual Ferrell Fair. Her family remembers her as a fantastic cook who made the best iced tea.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Saturday, January 28, 2017 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Franklinville United Methodist Church, 1525 Coles Mill Road, Franklinville, NJ 08322. Funeral service at 11:00 AM at the church. Interment Cedar Green Cemetery, Clayton.
