Jeannette Laura Gassler – Obituary

“Behind every Great Man there is an Amazing Woman,” and on June 26, 2020 at 94 years old, this amazing woman passed peacefully in her home with family by her side.

Wife to George K. Gassler, deceased August 28, 2018. Loving Mother of Laura, Helen, Eleanor, and Mary. Proud Grandmother of Steve, Abe, Greg, Zack, and Steph. Great Grandmother of Nasire, Gavin, Isabella, Bailey, Aiden, Jason, Corey, and Alexa. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
If there is one thing that grandma taught every single one of us, it is Loyalty. For our entire lives, we watched as she stood by her husband is side through thick and thin, her loyalty to this to this cherished man was undeniable. Two years ago almost to the date, her husband fell ill. Her devotion to supporting, visiting, and making sure he knew the love she felt for him was unconditional. Our family watched their Mom, their Grand- mom, and Grand- Ma-Ma grow stronger as she continued to fight for her husband when he could not fight for himself.

Mom went to church every Sunday since we can remember. Jeannette attended the Aura Methodist Church for over 70 years. She was also a member of the Eastern Star Organization. She LOVED ceramics. Every Tuesday for over 20 years she went to Ceramics and had what we called “Lady Time.” She personalized everyone’s house warming gift, graduation gift, and welcome baby gift. She always cherished the time spent doing crafts with her grandchildren and putting long puzzles together with her daughters. Grand mom was a social butterfly. Her favorite trips were to Olive Garden with the old ladies! She enjoyed having friends and family around her. Grand mom did not want presents; she never asked for things that cost money, her happiness was a room full of the people she loved. Some of our fondest memories were stories she would tell over and over of trips to her sister’s lake house and the yearly family reunion picnic.

She loved to have her nails painted different colors for the holidays and always enjoyed getting her hair done. Mom wanted to see the world. She always talked about the short period that she worked before she had children. By the grace of God, she was able to travel, go on beautiful vacations and experience all life hard to offer.

Jeannette was tough, she had high expectations and hopes for all members of her family, but the one thing everyone can say is that she loved each and every person and she never ever gave up on anyone. She always said she would live to by 100 years old, and believe me; I think I speak for all of us when I say we all thought she would. As gram grew old, she made sure to tell us all how much she loved us.  Her husband, her sisters, and her first granddaughter have been waiting on her. They missed her dearly and in times like these God needs fearless angels. We will continue through our days knowing how important it is to accept each and every individual for who they are without question as they are family and that is what it most important. We love you Mom, Grandmom, Grand mom-mom, until we meet again.
