Jarrett Cooper Delaney
March 14, 1979 – March 23, 2026
We are heartbroken to share the passing of Jarrett Cooper Delaney “Coop”, beloved father, brother, uncle, and cherished member of the community. Coop passed suddenly on March 23, 2026, and the loss of his heartfelt laughter and endless jokes is felt by so many, but especially his four children.
Son of the late James and Theresa Delaney, Coop was born on March 14, 1979, and was raised with his four siblings in Clayton, New Jersey. He graduated from Clayton High School in 1997, and moved away to start his family in Williamstown before returning to settle back into his hometown. Coop lived for sports from a young age, a passion he carried from the fields in his youth to the dugouts as an adult, cheering on his children, nieces, and nephews at baseball and soccer games. An avid Philadelphia sports fan, his love for sports often found him laughing with friends and family with his eyes on a game, rooting on his teams.
Coop is survived by his four children; Chase, Cole, Channing, and Coral Delaney; and their mother, Tabitha Delaney. He leaves behind his sisters, Jennifer (Joe) Pio and Jessica (Dave) Chapes, and his brother, John (Emily) Delaney. Uncle Coop will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews, including Kelsey, David, Gia, Brandon, Ava, Justin, Austin, Ellie, Emma, Wyatt, Becca, Connor, Izzy, and Ginevieve. Coop was preceded in death by his brother James (Ashley) Delaney and niece Hannah Pio.
Coop had a gift for bringing joy to any room. His laugh was iconic, and no one was safe from his jokes. Brilliantly smart and a storyteller at heart, any gathering was made more fun by his presence. His love filled a room, and the echo of his absence will be felt always by those who loved him.
And he was loved by so many.
We find comfort knowing Coop will be joining his parents, brother, friends and niece in Heaven, whom he missed so terribly. Though we will miss him more than words can say, we choose to celebrate his life, to remember how he made us laugh, and to live on in his name.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation in honor of Coop on Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312. We will gather directly afterwards to remember him together at the Clayton Fire Hall, 107 W. High Street, Clayton, NJ 08312.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Delaney family in support of his children. Sign the guestbook and send condolences at BarclayFuneralHome.net.
