JAMES OGDEN MURDOCK, JR. – Obituary
James Ogden Murdock, Jr., 86, of Franklinville, NJ, on December 18, 2024, in Washington Township, NJ. He was predeceased by his parents, James Ogden and Bessie Beatrice (née Harrop) Murdock, and his siblings, John Murdock (Elaine), Wilmer Murdock, Martha (née Murdock) Ralston (Archibald), and June (née Murdock) Carvin (Clyde). James is survived by many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Born in Berlin, NJ, and raised in Pennsauken, NJ, James graduated from Merchantville High School in 1956. He went on to serve in the Army National Guard for three years. At the age of 23, James started his apprenticeship at Budd Tool and Die, where he would go on to have a successful 33-year career before retiring at the age of 56.
For the past 22 years, James resided in Franklinville, NJ, where he enjoyed a rich and fulfilling life. He was an avid car enthusiast with a particular passion for antique cars. A proud member of a Corvette car club, James owned a 1970 Corvette, which he proudly showed at numerous car shows. His love for cars extended beyond ownership, as he often attended car events, where his presence and knowledge were cherished by fellow enthusiasts.
In addition to his love for cars, James enjoyed spending time at the Jersey Shore, especially in Sea Isle City, where he visited for many years. In his youth, James was passionate about rollerblading, but in later years, he found enjoyment in playing tennis. His sense of adventure and enthusiasm for life were evident in all his hobbies and interests. James will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
