HERMELINDA TUPAS SOLANO- Obituary
Hermelinda Tupas Solano, 84, of Clayton, NJ, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Celedonio M. Solano and a devoted mother to her children: Richard T. Solano, Raymond T. Solano, and Rowena S. Miclat. Hermelinda was also a proud grandmother to Nicholas Solano, Dante Solano, Lucas Solano, Caleb Solano, and Ahllwena S. Miclat. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Glenda Solano, and son-in-law, Allen Miclat. She was a loving sister to Lita Tupas Micua, Benjamin Tupas, Julieta Tupas Estrada, Esperanza Tupas Gines, Vincente Tupas Jr., Manuel Tupas, Teresita Tupas Garcia, and Nestor Tupas. She was predeceased by her parents, Vincente and Salvation Nior Tupas.
Born on April 13, 1940, in Manila, Philippines, Hermelinda moved to Lindenwold, NJ, before settling in Clayton, NJ, where she spent the remainder of her life. She completed her early education at Padre Gomez Elementary School and graduated from Far Eastern University, where she earned both her high school diploma and a bachelor’s degree in business.
Hermelinda had a deep commitment to her family, career, and community. She dedicated 35 years to serving at the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) in Quezon City, earning the respect of her colleagues. After relocating to the United States, she worked at Accumart Supermarket and later became the General Manager at Church’s Chicken in Lawnside, NJ, a position she held with great pride.
A woman who cherished her Filipino heritage, Hermelinda found joy in listening to her favorite Filipino music and watching Filipino television shows, especially soap operas. She was also an exceptional cook, delighting in preparing delicious meals for her family, particularly for her grandchildren, whom she adored. Her warm heart, nurturing spirit, and loving presence will be fondly remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Thursday, December 19, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312 with a funeral service from 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM.
