HENRY SAMUEL BARBERA – Obituary
Henry Samuel Barbera of the Star Cross section of Franklin Township on Saturday, March 30, 2024. Age 86. Henry, aka Hank, was born in Woodbury NJ on February 1, 1938 to Henry and Charlotte Barbera. He grew up in Clayton, and then moved to the Star Cross section of Franklin Township where he has been a lifelong resident. As a young man he was an airman and veteran for the United States Air force. He was also a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Hank worked for Cross Transportation before becoming owner/operator of his own trucking company. After a number of years, he left the trucking business and started work at CBS records, then onto Wheaton Glass Company. Following that, he worked at Ecko Aluminum of Clayton before retiring as senior supervisor at National Distribution Centers of Vineland NJ.
Hank was a big lover of music with the talent to play multiple musical instruments. His favorite instruments were the piano and violin. As a young man, he performed in the All State Orchestra where he played the violin. Hank was also a big fan of the Eagles and Phillies. He enjoyed watching many games with his sons.
Hank is survived by his sons Henry S. Barbera Jr (Barbara Minchin) of Williamstown and Anthony E. Barbera (Debbie Barbera) of Franklinville. His grandchildren Allison and Anthony Jr, his ex-wife and friend, Dorothy Black, and many loving nieces and nephews who affectionately called him Uncle Chubby.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312 with a funeral service beginning at 2:00 PM.
