Gloucester County Library System Awarded $3 Million Grant to Build New Library in Clayton
Gloucester County, NJ – The Gloucester County Library System (GCLS) is proud to announce the award of $3,000,000 in grant funding under the New Jersey State Library’s Capital Projects Fund: Community Center Digital Connect program. This grant will allow GCLS to construct a brand-new library at 730 N. Delsea Drive, Clayton, NJ, providing residents with expanded access to vital library services and resources.
“The Gloucester County Board of Commissioners is committed to investing in our communities and ensuring that residents have access to top-notch educational and technological resources,” said Commissioner Director Frank J. DiMarco. “This new library in Clayton will be a tremendous asset, offering a modern space for learning, community engagement, and enrichment.”
The new facility will offer the same high-quality services that residents have come to expect from GCLS libraries. Features will include dedicated adult and children’s programming, meeting spaces, public computers, free patron parking, and a welcoming children’s area.
“The Gloucester County Library System continues to be an invaluable resource for our residents,” said Commissioner Liaison Joann Gattinelli. “This project represents our support for literacy, lifelong learning, and community connectivity. We are excited to see this vision become a reality.”
“This grant is a monumental step forward in our mission to provide equitable access to information, technology, and learning opportunities for all residents,” said GCLS Director Carolyn Oldt. “We are excited to bring a state-of-the-art library to Clayton, fostering a space for education, innovation, and community engagement.”
GCLS acknowledges the strong commitment and collaboration of the Gloucester County Board of Commissioners, the Gloucester County Library Commission, and the Borough of Clayton in making this project possible. The library is expected to be completed by May 2026, and GCLS will provide regular progress updates to the community throughout the construction process.
