GLORIA T. FREDA – Obituary
Gloria T. Freda (nee Roberts) was called home on Tuesday, August 13, 2019. Age 88. Wife of 70 years to Rudolph A. Freda. Mother of Michael Freda (late Karen), the late Robert Freda (Cheryl), Timothy Freda (Linda), James Freda, and Loretta Freda. Grandmother of 17 and Great-grandmother of 24. Sister of Richard Roberts (Pat) and the late Raymond and Buddy Roberts. Daughter of the late Thomas A. and Loretta E. (nee Brock) Roberts.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, Gloria moved to the South Jersey area many years ago and has been a resident of Franklinville for the past 25 years. She was working at Kimble Glass in Vineland when she was introduced to Rudolph who became the love of her life and eventually her husband. Shortly after marrying they moved to Glassboro where they raised their 5 children. Later, Gloria began working part-time as a travel agent with South Jersey Travel. She enjoyed it immensely and continued full-time for many, many years. Gloria was an avid collector of the Dickens’ Village Series Department 56 Collectibles and over the years amassed a huge collection of pieces which she enjoyed displaying every year during the Christmas season. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and regularly could be found doing word puzzles or playing solitaire in her spare time. Rudolph fondly recalled how his young Irish wife learned the secrets of large, family-style Italian cooking from his mother. There was always an abundance of good food in the Freda home, and she especially enjoyed cooking for holiday family gatherings. Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Saturday, August 17, 2019, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312. Funeral service at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment at the Gloucester County Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Williamstown. For those who so desire, contributions may be made in memory of Gloria to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Foundation, P.O. Box 781352, Philadelphia, PA 19178-1352.
