GEORGE VANHORN STEVENSON, JR. – Obituary

George Van Horn Stevenson, Jr., of Dover,DE, passed away Sunday, August 19, 2018, in Kent General Hospital, DE.He was 72. George was born December 25, 1945, in Woodbury, New Jersey, to the late George & Elizabeth(Born) Stevenson.He worked as a supervisor for South Jersey Industries, for 38 years before retiring in 2005. He had also worked as a blacksmith, and butcher in the meat department at I.G.A.

In his free time, George enjoyed many outdoor activities, photography, and fishing; but his favorite was spending time with his family, friends, and neighbors, showing off his great dry sense of humor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Betsy Stevenson and Janet Tyler. George is survived by his wife of 27 years, Susan (Pierson) Stevenson; his children, Anita Stevenson, of Franklinville ; George Van Horn Stevenson, III & wife, Jennifer, of Marietta, Georgia; and Bonnie Marshall & husband, Dave, of Malaga; 2 brothers, Russell Stevenson, of Sewell, and James Stevenson, of Florida; his sister, Susan Warriner, of Blackwood; and his grandchildren, David, Joshua, Chase, Parker, and Elliegh.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm, Thursday, August 23rd, in Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, DE; where family and friends may view two hours before.
