Franklin Township had a packed event with beautiful weather as they welcomed everyone to their annual Community Day on Saturday Sept 24th. Each year thousands attend this event that is held at the school grounds of Janvier Elementary School at the intersection of Coles Mill (Route 538) and Stanton Avenue in the Janvier section of Franklin Township. This year’s theme was ‘Family Reunion’ and there were many folks who returned to the gathering where Franklin is their hometown. You could see many groups that went to school, church or lived at one time in Franklin Township and were enjoying the day taking photographs and having fun at the many activities while making plans to meet up with neighbors and friends and listen to the bands and watch fireworks. Peabody’s Wayback Machines entertained the crowd from 3-5pm and played rock music from the 80’s. The headliner band for this year event was named Kinsoul and they played Classic Rock & Country music until dusk when a large fireworks display took place . There was a car show, monster truck rides, hayrides, helicopter rides, bounce houses and slides for the kids plus all types of food available. Franklin Township Senior Citizens sold beautiful red ‘Reunion’ t-shirts this year and there was two large auctions and a big variety of donated baskets by many local businesses. The warm fall weather was a welcome addition to making this years day a real success!
