Eric James Dougherty on Friday, June 9, 2017. Age 45. Son of Eugene F. “Gene” and Elizabeth E. “Betty” (nee Rush) Dougherty. Brother of Aaron (Barry) Dougherty and Sherry (Howard) Huepfel. Uncle to Emily Huepfel, Holly Huepfel, Rose Dougherty, and Bobby Dougherty.
Born in Woodbury and a lifelong resident of Franklinville, Eric was a 1989 graduate of Delsea Regional High School and worked as a custodian for the Herma S. Simmons Elementary School in Clayton. From age 15 until age 35, he volunteered with the Franklin Township Ambulance Corps. Eric was a member of the RC Church of Nativity in Franklinville where he had been confirmed and served as an alter server during his youth. He enjoyed photography, videography, and music, especially the oldies. Eric was also an avid collector of Coke memorabilia. His family fondly remembers Ocean City as his favorite place in the world.
