EMMA MARSHALL FIELD
Emma Marshall Field, age 87 died on January 27, 2017. Raised in Pitman, Emma graduated from Pitman High School in 1946. She formerly lived in Ocean City and Franklinville and has lived in Clayton for over 60 years. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Montclair State College in 1950. Emma taught in elementary schools in Woodbine, Ocean City, Franklinville, and retired from Winslow Twp. School #3 where she taught for 14 years. She is a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Clayton and a former member of the Pitman United Methodist Church and St. Peter’s United Methodist Church in Ocean City. Emma enjoyed being a lay delegate to the NJ UMC Conferences for several years. She was an active member of the United Methodist Women both regionally and locally, holding the office of president for many years. As a member of the American Assn. of University Women Emma was always collecting books for their book sale and campaigned for the establishment of the Gloucester County Library System. She was a lifelong member of NJEA and helped establish the Franklin Twp. Chapter. An avid bridge player, Emma was also a member of two bridge clubs which have met for over 50 years.
Friends may greet the family on Tuesday 7-9pm at the Kelley Funeral Home, 125 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ and Wednesday after 10am at Trinity United Methodist Church, 351 N. Delsea Dr, Clayton, NJ 08312. Funeral service will be at 11am. Interment at Cedar Green Cemetery.
