ELLA BELLE JEFFERSON – Obituary

Ella Belle Jefferson of Elk Township, NJ passed away suddenly on March 16, 2021. She was 86 years old. Ella was born in Atmore, Alabama on June 22, 1934, to the late Minnie Bell Jordan and Henry Hazley. She married her childhood sweetheart former Philadelphia Police Detective Samuel Lee Jefferson on April 13, 1949.

Ella enjoyed gardening, cooking, and fishing. However, her greatest enjoyment was working side by side with her husband Samuel fixing up and renovating homes and cars, and frequenting the casinos. She also attended Gloucester County Community Church.

Surviving Ella are her four children William (Glassboro NJ), Steven (Salem NJ), Sharon (Glassboro NJ) and Scott (Middletown, DE), 3 daughter-in-laws Barbara, Jackie, and Teri, siblings Sylvia Williams, Mosella Longmire (Atmore, AL), Essie Mae Johnson (Euclid, OH) and Joe Louis Hazley (Atmore, AL), grandchildren Jamella, Tyrise, Maurice, Jasmine, Sherice, Sharon’s, Lady, and a host of great-grandchildren. Preceded in death were her husband (Samuel), daughter (Armistrice), and sons (David and Stewart). Also preceded in death were her brother Harry and sister Nancy.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Thursday, April 1, 2021, from 11 am to 12 pm at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton followed by a funeral service at 12 noon at the funeral home. Interment Manahath Cemetery, Glassboro. Due to the pandemic, the funeral service and interment are private.
