ELIHUE CHAMP CRUMP- Obituary

Elihue Champ Crump came into this world fighting. He was born as the middle child of 6 (Lillian, George, Betty, James, and Eugertha “Rose”) in the backwoods of West Virginia as a preemie to George Crump (deceased) and Anna Harris (deceased). While some doubted his survival, his mother did not. Therefore, it was no surprise Eli took the farming skills he learned from his parents, carpentry from his uncle, and started making his own way in the world at just 8 years old. He went on to refine those skills with sweat equity and determination. He built his 1st house at age 16. Although he had limited education Eli went on to build his own successful construction business for a period. Even when he decided to let the business go, he was fervently sought after for his building talent from Long Island, NY to Florida. His phone would still ring even as he entered his 80s with people calling for his services and mentorship.

Eli did not build his way through the world by himself. In his early years, he met and married his 1st love, Peggy Cuffee. From this union came Larry (deceased), Elihue “Brother” (deceased), Nora (deceased), Mitchell, Lucille “Cookie,” Peggy Ann, and Charles. Although their marriage ended, Eli & Peggy would remain friends with a respect for each other.

Eli would go on to marry Eunice Segal (deceased). This union would bring on a blended family adding Eunice’s daughters from a previous marriage Carole and Cheryl. They would then welcome the final edition of their family baby Sharon (deceased).

He is survived by his last remaining sibling “Rose;” children Lucille “Cookie,” Peggy Ann, Mitchell, Charles, Carole, & Cheryl. Grandchildren: Elihue “Aki,” Turia, Paula, Elora “Sweetpea,” Catherine “Cadd,” Candace, Shaquana, Dawn, Deprice, Charles, Jasmine, Crystal, Manny, Lamar, Little Sharon, Little Mitchell (deceased), Michael, Yasha, Saida, Erica, Master, Charles, Charlene, Boshay, Khasan, Nicole, Michelle, Angelic, Althea, Lahriek, and Omega. As well as a host of great-grands, great-great-grands, friends, and extended family.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Saturday, April 16, 2022, from 2:00 to 4:00 at the BARCLAY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Maple Street, Clayton, NJ 08312 with a funeral service beginning at 4:00.
