Franklin Township/Gloucester County
On Friday, July 16, 2021 at approximately 9:52 p.m. hours Franklin Township Police Department was dispatched to Tuckahoe Road and Sheridan Avenue for the report of a two vehicle, head-on, motor vehicle crash, with entrapment. Upon investigation at the scene, it was determined a 2017 Nissan SUV was traveling north on Tuckahoe Road, operated by a 44 year old male from Williamstown. While traveling north, the Nissan was struck head-on, in the north bound lane, by a 2011 Hyundai SUV, operated by a 61 year old male, Vineland resident, traveling south on Tuckahoe Road.
The driver of the Hyundai SUV was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Nissan SUV was heavily entrapped in the vehicle, and was removed from the vehicle with the assistance of the Franklinville Fire Department. He was airlifted to Cooper Trauma for his injuries, where he was later pronounced deceased. At this time, it is unknown why the Hyundai SUV crossed into the north bound lane of travel. Assisting at the scene was the Franklinville Fire Department, Gloucester County EMS, Inspira Paramedics, Cooper 1 Medevac Unit, Star Cross Fire Police, Gloucester County Medical Examiner’s Office, and Gloucester County Animal Control.
