Doris Joan Jarrell (nee Martin) on Wednesday, October 9, 2019. Age 79. Wife of 36 years to the late John William Jarrell. Mother of John W. (wife Becky Ryan) Jarrell, Jr., Wesley M. (wife Stacey K.) Jarrell, Jennifer R. (husband John) Goliash, and the late Craig L. Jarrell. Grandmother of Cole M. and Madelyn G. Jarrell. Sister of Nancy Wilson. Beloved aunt to many. Daughter of the late Wesley and Cora (nee Ackley) Martin.
Born in Camden and raised in Ewan, Doris was a 34 year resident of Clayton and most recently of Runnemede. She was a 1958 graduate of Glassboro High School and was a longtime owner, along with her husband, of the Mullica Hill Shell, formerly Arco, gas station. Doris later worked as a house manager for Bancroft for a number of years until her retirement in 2002.
During the 1970s, Doris volunteered with the Clayton Ambulance Corps. She was an avid and prolific reader, a masterful bingo player, a skillful player of cards, and an aficionado of games of chance. She regularly destroyed her children in trivial pursuit and enjoyed puzzles, cryptograms, and word games. Doris loved watching bad, old (classic) TV shows and Hallmark movies. She also enjoyed painting landscape scenes and ceramic Christmas figures.
