DONNA GAIL HARMER – Obituary
Donna Gail Harmer (nee McGiboney) on Thursday, March 18, 2021. Age 71. Wife of 45 years to the late Richard William Harmer. Mother of Marcus G. Harmer (Krista) of Clayton and the late Amanda Gail Harmer. Grandmother of Robin Harmer (fiancé John), Theresa Harmer (fiancé Shawn), Thomas Harmer (fiancé Sarah), and Elizabeth Harmer. Great-grandmother of Jonathan Waters, Logan Ferguson, Angelina Obidos, and Alaina Dunn. Sister of Robin Sparto (Vito), Preston McGiboney (Renee), and the late Bradford McGiboney. Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Daughter of the late Robert Guy and Caroline Emma (nee Bretz) McGiboney.
Born and raised briefly in Philadelphia, Donna has been a resident of Clayton for the past 65 years. She was a 1967 graduate of Clayton High School and a 1974 graduate of Glassboro State College where she majored in Elementary Education. Donna worked as a teacher for Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic School in Clayton for 8 years and later was a permanent substitute teacher for the Aura Elementary School for many years. After leaving teaching, she worked for 5 years as a cashier with Walmart.
Together with her husband, Donna enjoyed many years of traveling all over the U.S. as well as to Mexico, England, and Wales. Her favorite place to go was Disney World, and she made trips there every couple of years. She loved pink flamingos and liked to do crossword puzzles and play Freecell. Donna enjoyed watching Korean soap operas and crime shows. She liked to go out to eat, especially the Liberty Diner, and looked forward to going to the Cheese Cake Factory for her birthday every year. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed hosting Christmas eve for family and friends. In her youth, Donna enjoyed camping and many years as a ballet dancer.
