Donald Wayne Kier on Monday, February 4, 2019. Age 72. Father of Donald W. (Josette) Kier, Jr., Joanna E. Kier, and the late Robyn L. Kier. Grandfather of Nathanial Kier. Brother of Ronald Kier, John L. Kier, III, Douglas T. Kier, and Bonnie Savage. Cousin of James L. Bowers. Son of the late John L. and Marian V. (nee Bowers) Kier, Jr.
Born in Woodbury and raised in Clayton where he lived until 1974, Donald was a longtime resident of Mantua before returning to Clayton in 2012. He was a 1965 graduate of Clayton High School and served two years in the US Army including time in the Dominican Republic. Donald worked for CBS Records, later Sony Records, for 38 years before retiring in 2008 as a Senior Maintenance Mechanic. For many years, he helped build houses with Bob Glick and enjoyed woodworking making many beautiful cabinets. Donald was involved with racing drag and sprint cars all over the east coast and was an avid hunter for many years. He was a member of Clayton Volunteer Fire Company serving as lieutenant on Truck 3. Donald loved kids and had a special way with animals, especially dogs. In recent years, he enjoyed collecting HO scale model trains.
Relatives and friends are invited to his memorial service on Friday, February 8, 2019, at 7:00 PM at the Mullica Hill Baptist Church, 18 S. Main Street, Mullica Hill, NJ 08062 where friends may call from 6:00 PM until service time. Inurnment private at the convenience of the family.
