On Wednesday January 25th, Delsea wrestled against Triton. Delsea blew out Triton 78-5 on Delsea’s Senior night. Starting at 106 lbs. Delsea had their only loss of the night by the way of tech fall. At 113 lbs., Delsea’s Alex Zimmerman won by forfeit; at 120 lbs. Delsea’s Gio DeGeorge pinned in the 2nd period; at 126 lbs. Delsea’s Tyson Derenberger won by forfeit; at 132 Delsea’s Travis Griffith won by forfeit. Triton only had eight wrestlers so Delsea had the match secured early. At 138 Delsea’s Marius Fennal pinned in the 3rd period to score Delsea another 6 points; at 145 lbs. Delsea’s Tim Spatola pinned 13 seconds into the match. The quickest win of the night for Delsea, at 152 lbs. Delsea’s Jared Schoppe pinned in 57 seconds. At 160 lbs. Delsea’s Asa Walton won by forfeit; at 170 lbs. Delsea’s Justin Dougherty won by pin in the 2nd period; at 182 lbs. Delsea’s Ashton Blose won by pin in the 2nd period as well. At 195 lbs. Delsea’s Cade Berardelli won by forfeit; at 220 lbs. Delsea’s Matt Kratzer won by pin in the 2nd period; and finally at heavyweight Delsea’s Tygen Johnson won by forfeit to cap Delsea’s blowout win.
On Saturday January 25th Delsea wrestled Cherokee at Rider University. Starting at 106 Delsea lost; at 113 Delsea Alex Zimmerman won 4-2; at 120 Delsea’s Gio DeGeorge dropped a tough one in OT 1-0; at 126 Delsea’s Tyson Derenberger was pinned; at 132 Delsea’s Travis Griffith lost 15-2; at 138 Delsea’s Marius Fennal lost 8-2; at 145 Delsea’s Tim Spatola lost 1-0; at 152 Delsea’s Jared Schoppe won 5-1. At 160 lbs., Delsea’s Asa Walton won by pin early in the 2nd period; at 170 lbs., Delsea’s Justin Dougherty won 5-3; at 182 lbs., Delsea’s Ashton Blose pinned in 30 seconds to score Delsea another 6 points. At 195 lbs., Delsea’s Cade Berardelli dropped a tough match 11-9; at 220 lbs. Delsea’s Matt Kratzer secured a clutch pin in the first period; and at heavyweight Delsea’s Tygen Johnson won 6-3. Delsea won the match as a team 30-28 against a good Cherokee team.
