On Saturday January 23rd, Delsea Girls Basketball opened up their shortened season with a scrimmage against Glassboro. With very little practice time and not much working out or training, teams are expected to be rusty. Peyton Gilmore led the charge for Delsea with 20 points and Zhoei Travis right behind her. Two things that need to be worked on are limiting the turnovers on offense and crashing the boards more for rebounds. Delsea lost 50-40 but it was only a scrimmage to get some live competition before the season opener.
Also on Saturday, Delsea Boys Basketball opened their season with a scrimmage against Glassboro. The boys lost a tough one but like the girls was only a scrimmage to get some live practice. Some things Delsea needs to work on is offensive efficiency and defensive intensity to create more turnovers and cause tougher shots. The boys starting five looks much different than last year, losing starters Trey Simmons and Tyler Bey as transfers and Center Brandon Falls to a knee injury. Jimmy Reilly is the only returning starter and led the team in scoring along with Cole Parks against Glassboro.
