Delsea Girls basketball finished up their regular season this week and won all three games. They finished 8-4 on their season and are going into the playoffs riding a 3-game win streak. On Tuesday February 23rd, they played Deptford and won 51-25, Peyton Gilmore led Delsea with a 28 point, ten rebound double – double and also had eight steals. Zhoei Travis also had nine points and five rebounds. Lexi Harkins and Emma Afflerbach each had five points and Afflerbach had ten rebounds. Delsea had this game over by halftime and went into break up 36-7, not allowing a basket in the second quarter.
Delsea Girls played two days later against Cumberland and blew them away 62-16. Once again Delsea had this game over by halftime at 35-12. Gilmore led Delsea with 29 points, six rebounds and nine steals. Zhoei Travis had 13 points and three rebounds, Lexi Harkins had ten points and six rebounds as well. Cumberland scored 12 points in the first half and four points in the second half. Delsea won these two games by a combined score of 113-41 and were heating up just in time for the playoffs.
On Friday February 26th the Delsea Girls played in their season finale against Highland hoping to tie for first place in the Tri-County Liberty Division title. Delsea did just that by beating the Tartans 44-40. Gilmore led Delsea with 17 points,11 rebounds, and four steals. Lexi Harkins had fifteen points and fourteen rebounds as well, Tori Kanuck, Zhoei Travis and Alli Sieminski each had three points. Delsea plays Penns Grove in the TCC tournament on Monday.
