By Angelo Teti- Delsea High School student Sports Writer for The Sentinel of Gloucester County Weekly Newspaper – published print edition week of 2/27/2020
Delsea girls basketball came into the week with a record of 11-10. On Tuesday 2/18 they played Rancocas Valley and dropped a tough one 37-32. The Crusaders fell to 11-11 on the season and were now on the verge of dropping under .500. Peyton Gilmore led the Crusaders with 15 points and four steals. Zhoei Travis, Kamille Morton, and Lexi Harkins all added six points in the loss.
Delsea had their biggest game of the year on Thursday 2/20 against Deptford. With a win against Deptford the girls would be Co-TCC Liberty Division champions. Deptford girls, just like the boys snuck past Delsea in their last meeting by two points, once again this changed big time. Delsea won 46-31 to capture the division and move to 12-11 on the season. Peyton Gilmore once again led Delsea with 15 points, Zohei Travis added ten of her own, including two 3-pointers. Kamille Morton and Lexi Harkins both added eight points as well. Delsea played great defense and forced Deptford into taking bad shots and not run their offense. Delsea also has two games left on the season before the NJSIAA playoff tournament starts.
