DELSEA GIRLS BASKETBALL HIGHLIGHTS

  On Tuesday January 26th Delsea Girls Basketball team played Kingsway in their season opener and lost a tough one 55-46. It was also Delsea’s senior night for Peyton Gilmore, Kayla Vandvelt, Lexi Harkins and Zhoei Travis. Peyton Gilmore led Delsea with 26 points, six rebounds and four assists. Zhoei Travis had nine points and seven rebounds. Lexi Harkins had six points and four rebounds for Delsea and Kayla Vandvelt and Tori Kanuck also had three points each. Delsea improved from their first scrimmage by crashing the boards more and also creating better shots for teammates. Delsea trailed by three points in the fourth quarter before Kingsway excelled and sealed a victory. Kingsway won the game on the defensive end, racking up fifteen steals to Delsea’s five and also had six blocks. 

Delsea played the Highland Tartans on Friday (1/29) and lost a very tough game 55-53. Lexi Harkins led the Crusaders with 16 points and good defense throughout the game. Peyton Gilmore and Zhoei Travis had 15 points each. Delsea led by two points at halftime and by the end of the third quarter, however Highland pulled out the victory in the fourth quarter. Delsea was down by two points with a few seconds left and got a chance but didn’t take the shot. Delsea is 0-2 for the season as Highlands game record is 2-0. Just like the boys, Delsea girls have a tough stretch of games coming up this week against Williamstown, Deptford and Triton.
