Delsea High School Girls Basketball played Deptford on Wednesday February 3rd and won it in a blowout 52-20. This was Delsea’s first win of their season and they moved to a record of 1-2. Peyton Gilmore led Delsea with fifteen points, seven rebounds, five assists and five steals. Lexi Harkins and Tori Kanuck each had ten points, Harkins also added seven rebounds and four steals. Zhoei Travis and Alli Sieminski also had seven points and a few rebounds in the win. The Crusaders held Deptford to four points in the first quarter, zero in the second, and sixteen the rest of the game.
On Friday (2/5) the Crusaders traveled to Triton and got the win to continue their winning streak at two games. They won 35-30 and it was a close game. Peyton Gilmore led Delsea with fourteen points, Lexi Harkins had six and Tori Kanuck also had six in the win. It was a low scoring and defensive game. The Crusaders held Triton to just thirty points and only let up three points in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
On Saturday (2/6) the girls traveled to Williamstown looking to continue their win streak. The Crusaders did that by beating Williamstown 48-43 in overtime behind Peyton Gilmore’s 28 points. Gilmore lead off for the Crusaders sinking eight shots from the field, one three-pointer, and nine free-throws. She also had five steals and a bunch of easy transition layups. Tori Kanuck also added nine points and a few steals for the Crusaders. Although Delsea trailed by ten at halftime, eight at the end of the third quarter, they tied it up in the fourth. They outscored the Braves 7-2 in overtime to seal the game. The girls increase to a 3-2 season so far and hope to keep it rolling next week.
